After helping Vampiro successfully topple Berlyn and his tank-sized bodyguard The Wall in a World Championship Wrestling pay-per-view event Sunday night, The Misfits have announced they will be teaming with Vampiro both in and out of the ring in the coming weeks.
The punk outfit will remain by the wrestler's side for a string of WCW events, and will then launch the second leg of their U.S. tour with Vampiro joining them for select dates.
"He is a loyal fiend who grew up listening to our music," Misfits bassist Jerry Only said of the wrestler in a statement announcing the dates. "He's a Misfits offspring of sorts and just as crazy. We are fierce together."
Only and Vampiro most recently flexed that fierceness at Sunday night's live pay-per-view event "WCW Mayhem." Vampiro took on Berlyn in a chain match that saw Only on both the giving and receiving end of his share of punishment.
Things didn't go as smoothly the first time The Misfits helped out the
WCW star. The band was by Vampiro's side when the grappler faced Berlyn earlier this month on "WCW Monday Nitro," but a piledriver left Misfits' drummer Dr. Chud with a concussion. To better prepare himself for more ringtime, Jerry Only is expected to head to wrestling school early next year.
